Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a high-quality lithium ion secondary battery electrode more uniform in active material layer basis weight by use of granulated particles.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a lithium ion secondary battery electrode comprises the step of applying a binder fluid including a binder and a solvent onto an elongated current collector along a longitudinal direction of the current collector to form a binder coat layer. The binder coat layer 120 has coated parts Ln each arranged by applying the binder fluid like a thin wire along a longitudinal direction; the coated parts are arrayed in a widthwise direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction, forming a stripe pattern. The coated parts Ln each appear to be in the form of a wavy line meandering with an amplitude 2A in the widthwise direction orthogonal to a center line Sn running along the longitudinal direction. The adjacent coated parts Ln and Ln+1 never touch each other; a non-coated part Lm is formed, extending along the longitudinal direction between the coated parts Ln and Ln+1. Each coated part Ln includes no straight line portion. The method further comprises the steps of supplying granulated particles including active material particles and a binder onto the binder coat layer 120; and pressing the granulated particles thus supplied to form an active material layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3A
