Abstract:
To provide a method of determining characteristics of a fabric for manufacturing paper.SOLUTION: A method includes a process of forming an indication of a surface of the fabric which indicates a location and a size of knuckles and pockets, a process of either one of a print or a photograph of surface of the fabric, a process of creating an image of the surface of the fabric based on the formed indication, a process of displaying an image on a screen associated with a computer, a process of determining the size and location of a knuckle or a pocket in the display of the image, a process of drawing a unit cell for a surface portion of the fabric in the displayed image and defining by a guide line surrounding a specific area, and a process of calculating a planar volume index of the fabric based on a characteristic of the unit cell defined by the guide line. The method is drawn by using an image analysis program stored on a non-temporary computer readable medium.SELECTED DRAWING: None
