Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently producing a fluorinated adamantane compound having a fluorine atom bonded to a carbon atom in a bridge head position with high selectivity.

The method for producing the fluorinated adamantane compound includes electrolytically fluorinating an adamantane compound selected from an adamantane derivative having hydrogen atoms bonded to carbon atoms in bridge head positions and an adamantane thereof to substitute a fluorine atom for a part or all of substantially only the hydrogen atoms. The method produces a fluorinated adamantane compound particularly having one to three fluorine atoms from an adamantane derivative having one to two organic groups (having two to three hydrogen atoms) bonded to the carbon atoms in the bridge head positions.
