Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an expandable polystyrene-based resin particle that can produce a polystyrene-based resin expansion molded article having an excellent fire retardant property as well as that is excellent in expansion moldability and has a high product yield.SOLUTION: A method for producing an expandable polystyrene-based resin particle comprising fire retardant, includes: first, mixing a fire retardant comprising brominated butadiene-styrene copolymer, and a polystyrene-based resin by kneading to produce a polystyrene-based resin seed particle and dispersing the same in an aqueous medium; then, feeding a styrenic monomer into the aqueous medium to impregnate the styrenic monomer into the polystyrene-based resin seed particle and polymerizing the same; and impregnating a physical blowing agent into the resin particle during or after the polymerization to produce an expandable polystyrene-based resin particle.
