Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce low sulfur-low nitrogen high purity steel in one refining container by a ferrous raw material using an arc type electric furnace.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a high purity steel by an electric arc furnace where the electrode of a direct current arc type electric furnace is made into hollow, while feeding a hydrogen carbide gas through the hollow part, one or more kinds of ferrous raw materials including 50% or more of iron ore, reduced iron, scrap or the like are dissolved, the carbon concentration in the molten iron after melt-down is controlled to the carbon concentration to the ferrous raw materials or higher, thereafter, an oxygen gas is blown into the molten iron, and decarburization treatment is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
