Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing hydrocarbons, in which the yield of hydrocarbons is made higher even under a normal-temperature and normal-pressure condition.SOLUTION: The method for producing hydrocarbons comprises a step of bringing metal magnesium, water and carbon dioxide into contact with one another so that the carbon dioxide is reduced to produce hydrocarbons. A magnesium alloy containing one or more alloy elements selected from iron, lithium, copper, nickel, manganese, calcium, zirconium and aluminum is used, as the metal magnesium. When aluminum is used as an alloy component, the content of zinc in the magnesium alloy is made lower than the content of the aluminum and lower than 0.7 mass%. The alloy elements are added intentionally.
