Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a lithium ion battery by which a lithium ion battery having a reference electrode made of metallic lithium can be manufactured in a simple and convenient way at low cost.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a lithium ion battery comprises: an outer packaging step in which a blank electrode 14, a negative electrode 20, a positive electrode 24, and an electrolytic solution are put in a sheath material 26 and sealed up; and a deposition step subsequent to the outer packaging step, in which metallic lithium 12 is deposited on the blank electrode 14 to obtain a reference electrode 16 by conducting electricity with one of the negative and positive electrodes 20 and 24 and the blank electrode 14 in contact with the electrolytic solution, provided that the one electrode has an active material 32(36) capable of releasing lithium ions (other than elemental metallic lithium). According to this method, a lithium ion battery 10 including the reference electrode 16 made of metallic lithium 12, the negative electrode 20, the positive electrode 24 and the electrolytic solution is arranged.
