Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an organic substance from a gas obtained by partial oxidation of a carbon source in which the energy required for producing the organic substance is reduced.SOLUTION: The method generates gas including carbon monoxide by the partial oxidation of a carbon source and makes a microorganism generate an organic substance from the gas in a fermentation vessel. By supplying a gas with a higher oxygen concentration than air when partially oxidizing the carbon source, the step of generating the organic substance is carried out under the condition that the utilization is 0.5 or more, preferably 0.7 or more. When partially oxidizing the carbon source, it is preferable to set the gas pressure of the fermentation vessel to 1.17 bar-abs or more, preferably 1.69 bar-abs or more.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
