To provide a transparent resin material improved in heat resistance as a resin which is used for an optical element, and the like, having a high refractive index and a high Abbe's number.
The transparent resin optical material is obtained by curing a composition for the transparent resin which contains a polythiol having a structure expressed by formula (1) or formula (2). Thus, a compound useful as a raw material for the new optical material in a field in which the high refractive index is required is obtained. Further, the resin obtained by polymerizing and curing the composition has very high optical characteristics and is improved in the heat resistance, so that the resin contributes to development of the optical element which requires the high heat resistance as a characteristic.
