Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a powdery water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether having a high bulk density inexpensively and stably by adding a minimum necessary amount of water.SOLUTION: A method of producing a powdery water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether at least includes: a step of reacting alkali cellulose with an etherification agent to obtain a reaction product; a step of washing and deliquoring the reaction product to obtain a water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether; a step of mixing the water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether with water having a temperature not less than 70°C by an amount making a water content of the water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether 55-90 mass% to obtain a hydrous water-soluble nonionic cellulose ether having a water content of 55-90 mass%; a step of cooling the hydrous water-soluble nonionic cellulose; and a step of drying and pulverizing the cooled hydrous water-soluble nonionic cellulose.SELECTED DRAWING: None
