Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a press molding material capable of obtaining a molded body which has a three-dimensional shape of a fiber-reinforced composite material containing a discontinuous reinforced fiber and a thermoplastic resin, has no weld line in its corner portion and edge portion, and is excellent in appearance and strength.SOLUTION: A press molding material contains a discontinuous fiber having an average fiber length of 3 mm to 100 nm and a thermoplastic resin, and has a certain reference surface, at least one rising-possible surface, and at least one self-lamination possible region, where a part of the rising-possible surface is contained in the self-lamination possible region. A production method of a press molding material includes a step of working an object formed of a composite material containing the discontinuous fiber and the thermoplastic resin into a press molding material having such a shape as to satisfy the following i) and ii): i) a shape obtained by developing from a three-dimensional shape of an object by reverse molding analysis with a computer; and ii) a shape obtained by deleting at least one element having a three-dimensional shape of a molded body being an object and developing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
