Abstract:
In the method: a rod-shaped or tube-shaped material (8), which has a main material body (81) for forming the sleeve member (1) and an integrally provided disposable boss (82) extending from the main material body (81) in the axial direction, is prepared; the main material body (81) is gripped with a chuck (71) of a lathe and the outer circumferential surface of the disposable boss (82) is machined to form a standard gripping surface (825); the standard gripping surface (825) of the disposable boss (82) is gripped with a chuck (72) of the lathe and the outer circumferential surface and inner circumferential surface of the main material body (81) are machined; after which the disposable boss (82) is removed from the main material body (81).
