Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a film thickness of an organic layer from becoming uneven, as further as possible, in a method of manufacturing an organic EL element in which the organic layer serving as a functional film is formed by applying an ink that becomes the organic layer, onto a substrate.SOLUTION: On a substrate 10, an annular bank 60 is formed which surrounds a film forming region 10a where a hole-injection layer 30 and a light-emitting layer 40 are formed as a functional film. An ink K is applied to the film forming region 10a so as to protrude higher than a distal end portion 61 of the bank 60. A cover 200 is used whose one surface is a flat surface 201, with which a peripheral part side of the film forming region 10a is shielded and a central part side thereof is opened, the flat surface 201 of the cover 200 is opposed to the substrate 10 and the ink K on the film forming region 10a is pressed by the flat surface 201 until the flat surface 201 is brought into contact with the distal end portion 61 of the bank 61. A liquid component in the ink K is evaporated via an opening 210 of the cover 200, thereby drying the ink K and forming the organic layers 30, 40 as the functional film.
