Abstract:
To provide a medium conveying device capable of reducing a manufacturing cost of the device.SOLUTION: A medium conveying device 20 includes an opening and closing cover 13, an ultrasonic sensor 24, a transmission type optical sensor 25, and a control part 21; the opening and closing cover 13 covers a conveyance path P for medium targeted to be read; the ultrasonic sensor 24 includes a transmitter 24T for transmitting an ultrasonic wave and a receiver 24R for receiving the ultrasonic wave transmitted from the transmitter 24T; the transmission type optical sensor 25 includes a light projector 25T for transmitting light and a light receiver 25R for receiving the light transmitted from the light projector 25T; both the ultrasonic sensor 24 and the transmission type optical sensor 25 are sensors for detecting the medium targeted to be read being present on the conveyance path P; the control part 21 increases an optical transmission level when an optical reception level is less than a threshold value and determines whether or not the opening and closing cover 13 is opened based on whether or not a change rate of the optical transmission level is less than the threshold value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
