Abstract:
According to the invention, movable containers (3) are provided above a section of a section conveyor belt (1) onto which postal items are deposited in the order of distribution. Said containers revolve in a closed transport loop (5) and have a plurality of compartments (4) for one postal item (8) each that can be opened downwardly in a controlled manner. Said compartments (4) can only be emptied when the containers (3) are in a rest position in a sorting station (6). The automatic emptying onto the sections associated with the delivery destinations is carried out in accordance with the recognized destination address of the postal items (8). Once a container (3) is emptied, it is taken to a charging station (9) where the compartments (4) are filled with postal items (8), the compartments (4) containing the postal items (8) are associated with the delivery destinations in accordance with the respective destination address and this association is transmitted to a device for opening the compartments (4) in a controlled manner.
