To provide a metal refining method and apparatus, etc., by which the refining efficiency can be improved and the obtained refined metal weight is increased by preventing the metal crystallized under state of high solidified speed from being exfoliated from a cooling body after growing to some extent.
In the method for refining the metal, crystallizing a high purity metal on the cooling body surface while rotating the cooling body 3 by dipping the cooling body 3 into molten metal 2 to be refined; the maximum rotating speed of the cooling body 3 at the front-half of the initial stage of the refining, is set at higher than the average rounding speed after the initial stage of the refining and the average rounding speed of the cooling body at the rear-half of the initial stage of the refining, is set at lower than the average rounding speed after the initial stage of the refining to perform the refining.
