Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of highly efficiently recovering metallic zinc present in the top dross of zinc-based molten metal at a high recovery rate without generating a harmful halogen or a harmful halide.SOLUTION: The method of recovering metallic zinc present in the top dross of zinc-based molten metal includes adding a hydroxide of alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal and a peroxide of alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal into the molten top dross of zinc-based molten metal, stirring the mixture, subsequently allowing the mixture to stand still, and removing a material floating on the surface of the molten top dross bath. Reduction reactions by (Al) contained in the top dross proceed, and metallic zinc of a high concentration can be recovered by allowing a generated material floating on the surface of the molten dross bath to stand still and to separate, and subsequently removing the same from the resultant metallic zinc.
