Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for determining the spark advance as a function of the torque of a spark-ignition engine. For a set of fixed parameters representing the operating point of the engine, including at least the load, the advance is calculated as a function of the torque according to an inverse equation of a parabolic equation when said torque is higher than a threshold. According to the invention, when said torque is lower than said threshold, the advance is calculated as a function of the torque according to an inverse equation of a linear equation. The obtained value is higher than that which would have been calculated by the inverse of the parabolic equation and avoids underestimating the latter. The invention can be used in a method for controlling an engine in which the torque of an engine is rapidly decreased by instantaneously increasing the spark advance.
