Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of enhancing the local contrast in a thermal image of an object of a certain class having a heat characteristic.SOLUTION: This method includes the steps of: providing thermal image data indicating a first thermal image 100 captured by a thermal image system having undergone an absolute calibration; redistributing the thermal image data having a first intensity distribution into a second intensity distribution so as to enhance the local contrast of an object 114 of a class using an established redistribution function based on a heat characteristic; and outputting the redistributed thermal image data as a thermal image. A device for enhancing the local contrast in the thermal image of the object 114 of a certain class having the heat characteristic is also provided.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
