CONSTITUTION: A magneto-optical recording film 2a of a recording layer is formed on one surface of a substrate 1a and the surface of the film 2a is provided with a butyl rubber layer 3 consisting of the material having the large attenuation ratio, by which the magneto-optical recording medium is formed. The vibration of the recording medium by the vibration of a spindle motor is absorbed in the layer 3 by the constitution provided with this layer 3, by which the generation of the resonance of the recording medium is suppressed and the frequency characteristics of the linear motor for information reading, etc., are enhanced. High speed access is thus possible. The effect similar to the effect obtainable when a plastic magnet magnetized in one direction is provided on the surface of the recording layer on the side opposite from the transparent substrate.
