Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing methanol and ammonia by a simpler process than that in conventional method when producing both methanol and ammonia simultaneously and in a methanol-rich state. SOLUTION: This method comprises the following four steps: (1) primary reforming reaction of a mixed gas of hydrocarbon with steam; (2) secondary reforming reaction in a state that air is added; (3) production of ammonia from the resultant syngas; and (4) production of ammonia after converting carbon oxide content in process purged gas into methane. The process does not need a shift reactor for converting CO into CO2.
