Abstract:

To provide a functional coating which gives high corrosion resistance, environmental-friendliness, and excellent capability of decomposing hydrogen peroxide and removing harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, chlorine, and sulfurous acid gas to an aluminum based material and to provide an aluminum based material having the functional coating.

The method for producing the functional coating involves forming a boehmite coating or an aluminum hydroxide coating on an aluminum based material and fixing a metal oxide having an oxidation catalytic function on the surface of the coating. The aluminum based material has the functional coating.
