Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject solution hardly changing the molecular weight of a polycarboxylic acid therein or its own viscosity in storage, hence little reduced in water-reducing capability, excellent in stable preservability and useful as an additive for cement, by including a specific polycarboxylic acid and adjusting its pH value. SOLUTION: This solution contains a polycarboxylic acid which comprises as an essential repeating unit a polyalkylene glycol monoalkenyl ether unit of formula I (R1 to R3 are each H or methyl; R4 is -CH2-, -CH2CH2- or the like, R5O is a 2-18C oxyalkylene or the like, R6 is H, an 1-30C alkyl or the like, (p) is 1 to 300 as an average addition molar number of oxyalkylene group) and a maleic acid-based unit shown by formula II [M1 is H, a univalent metal or the like and X is OM2 (M2 is H, a univalent metal or bivalent metal) or the like, and the solution is finally provided with a pH of >=8.
