To provide a method for producing a vinyl ether group-containing polymer by stably polymerizing a monomer component containing a compound having both a vinyl ether group and a radically polymerizable group in a water system and to obtain a stable aqueous solution or aqueous dispersion containing the polymer and a curable composition containing the aqueous solution or aqueous dispersion.

The method for producing the vinyl ether group-containing polymer is a method for producing the vinyl ether group-containing polymer using a reaction solution comprising the monomer component containing the compound having both the vinyl ether group and the radically polymerizable group and water as essential components. The reaction solution has pH 7.0-14.0.
