Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To design a practical device which generates additional power by using the energy (kT) available in the environment.SOLUTION: A molecular chip absorbing thermal energy from the environment includes a conductive or semiconductive substrate 102, a monomolecular layer 101 deposited on the substrate 102, and first and second electrodes 103, 104 forming a pair of electrodes on the substrate 102. The monomolecular layer 101 is formed by arranging multiple molecules having an orientation (alignments) designed previously along the length between the electrodes 103, 104.
