Abstract:
The present invention provides a method that modifies a targeted region of double-stranded DNA, the method including a step wherein selected double-stranded DNA is brought into contact with a complex wherein a nucleic acid base conversion enzyme is bound to a nucleic acid sequence recognition module that specifically binds to a target nucleotide sequence within the double-stranded DNA and, without severing either strand of the double-stranded DNA at the targeted region, one or more nucleotides in the targeted region are converted into one or more other nucleotides or are deleted, or one or more nucleotides are inserted at the targeted region.
