To provide a moss ball produced through solving such defects in conventional moss-ball production that it is very troublesome and complicated to form a soil ball, a thread winding work is also very complicated and bothersome, it is hard to produce a large moss ball because of easily causing deformation, and also growth control of the moss ball is troublesome.

The moss ball is formed as follows: preparing a moss-ball cultivation implement obtained by attaching a cylindrical leg part 2 internally provided with a water-permeable partition part 22 to a water-permeable net basket body 1 provided with an appropriate sized opening at the upper part thereof and allowing moss to be applied; and charging a water-retainable material 4 into the net basket body of the moss-ball cultivation implement; applying moss plants 3 all over the surface of the net basket body; winding appropriate thin thread around the moss plants to be held on the surface of the net basket body so as to cultivate the moss plants with the implement.
