Abstract:
To secure the stability of a vehicle behavior at a fail-safe operation which repeats winding short-circuit and winding short-circuit cancellation.SOLUTION: A motor drive device includes: a first inverter which drives a first motor to rotate the left wheel of the vehicle; a first capacitor which is charged and discharged by the first inverter; a second inverter which drives a second motor to rotate the right wheel of the vehicle; a second capacitor which is charged and discharged by the second inverter; and a control circuit which repeats a short-circuit operation which short circuits the windings of both the first and second motors simultaneously, if a DC bus voltage connected in common to the first and second capacitors reaches a first threshold, and a cancellation operation which cancels the short-circuit operation of both the first and second motors if the DC bus voltage reaches a second threshold lower than the first threshold.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
