PURPOSE: To transmit/receive a stereoscopic picture and to record a transmitting picture information and a received picture information on one recording medium.

CONSTITUTION: When an object is picked up by two-eye stereoscopic cameras 1, 2, a synchronizing separator circuit 3 separates synchronization of the video signal. A right eye picture and a left eye picture subject to synchronizing separation are synthesized into the video signal at a stereoscopic picture composition circuit 4. A video image from a sender side and a receiver side as one stereoscopic video signal is simultaneously recorded in a recording and reproducing device 6 while being synchronized by a transmission reception synchronization circuit 5. In the case of an analog signal, two systems of heads are provided in a VTR or the like of the recording device to record stereoscopic pictures of both transmission and reception sides.
