Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen reduction method that can facilitate a cathodic reduction reaction of nitrogen in a region having relatively low overvoltage applied without using a catalyst.SOLUTION: The nitrogen reduction method includes: a step (a) of preparing a molten salt 120 of an alkali halide including lithium; a step (b) of arranging an anode 130 and a cathode 140 in the molten salt 120; a step (c) of delivering nitrogen to the cathode 140; and a step (d) of performing power distribution by applying voltage for generating Liat the cathode 140 between the anode 130 and the cathode 140.
