Abstract:
A liquid permeable nonwoven fabric having concealing properties and suitable for use as the topsheet of an absorbent article for personal wear comprises short fibers, 50% by weight or more being thermoplastic fibers, and has sealed areas (2) formed by partially sealing the fabric (1) so that the sealed area ratio is from 10 to 40%, the short fibers containing, based on 100 parts by weight of the fibers, from 1 to 5 parts by weight of titanium oxide, an aggregate web of the fibres having a wettability of from 3 to 20 seconds as expressed in terms of sedimentation time, and the fabric having a reflectance per unit basis weight of 1.3% or more. The sealing may be done by ultrasonic or heat embossing, eg with rolls and may be preceded by a hot air treatment. Bicomponent fibres are suitable.
