Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnesium refining technology which is more energy saving and generates a smaller amount of CO.SOLUTION: In a method for operating a power generation system 10, power generation is performed by delivering combustible gas generated in a gasifying furnace 20 to poststage power generation facilities 30, wherein when the power generation facilities 30 are not running, the gasifying furnace 20 is utilized as a magnesium refining furnace. In the method, the combustible gas generated in the gasifying furnace 20 is preferably utilized as a fuel for refining magnesium in the gasifying furnace 20. Also, the combustible gas generated in the gasifying furnace 20 is preferably circulated into the gasifying furnace 20.
