To determine an operating state of an working surface of a casting mold or a casting die by calculating the temperature or the temperature and a heat flow in the working surface of the casting mold or the casting die based on the temperature data measured by temperature sensor buried in the casting mold or the casting die.
An apparatus for determining the operating state comprises an input section 101 to which the temperature data measured by a temperature measuring means buried in the casting die are input, a calculating section 102 for calculating the temperature and the heat flow in the working surface of the casting mold or the casting die by carrying out the non-steady heat transfer inverse problem analysis based on the measured temperature data to be input to the input section 101, an output section 103 for showing the temperature and the heat flow in the working surface of the casting mold or the casting die calculated by the calculating section 102 on a display, and a determining section 104 for evaluating the operating state of the operating surface based on the temperature and the heat flow in the operating surface of the casting mold or the casting die displayed on the output section 103.
