Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantum dot-containing optical transforming member which is incorporated in a liquid crystal display to enhance the front face brightness, with excellent light resistance; a backlight unit; a liquid crystal display; and a manufacturing method of the optical transforming member.SOLUTION: The optical transforming member has an optical transforming layer containing quantum dots which emit fluorescence when excited with incident exciting light. The optical transforming layer includes quantum dots in an organic matrix, having a neighboring inorganic layer in direct contact with the optical transforming layer. The interface between the optical transforming layer and the neighboring inorganic layer includes micro voids with a number density of 0 or more and less than 1 per 100 mm.
