Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the noise caused by the aging change by providing a means applying the phase adjustment angle in response to the aging change of the probe light intensity to the probe light at the front stage of the input port of the measuring probe light. CONSTITUTION:A phase adjusting means 10 is constituted of a Kerr medium and a spacer, it is provided at the front state of the input port of the measuring probe light of an interferometer 11, and it applies the phase adjustment angle to the measuring probe light in response to the aging change of the light intensity I of the measuring probe light. The optimum phase adjustment angle psi is given by the equation as the function of the light intensity I, where K is the magnitude (Kerr constant) of the nonlinear effect of the Kerr medium in a light squeezer. When K is set so that the effect of the Kerr medium and the spacer approximately satisfies the optimum psi in this equation in the range with a large value of the light intensity I, noise can be reduced.
