Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an organic electroluminescent element excellent in luminous efficiency, durability (emission life), and temporal stability of luminous colors, low in drive voltage, reduced in occurrence of dark spots, and suppressed in luminance unevenness during light emission; and a lighting system including the organic electroluminescent element.SOLUTION: In an organic electroluminescent element including an anode, a cathode and a single or a plurality of organic layers having a luminous layer while the organic layers are held between the anode and the cathode, at least one layer of the organic layers contains a hexadentate ligand type ortho-metal iridium complex represented by general formula (I). [In the formula, V represents a trivalent linking group having an aromatic heterocyclic and is linked with L-Lby covalent bonds, and L-Lrepresent a specific aromatic nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound.]
