A sheet binding device (280) binds a sheet bundle by causing a movable-crimping-member moving unit (269) to move a movable crimping member (261b) thereby holding a sheet bundle between crimping members (261 a, 261b). The movable-crimping-member moving unit (269) includes: a link mechanism (270) that includes a first link member (270a) rotatably connected to the movable crimping member (261b), a second link member (270b) rotatably connected to a fixed member (270f) fixed to a device body and connected to the first link member (270a) through a connecting part (269a); a connecting member (271 a) rotatably connected to the connecting part (269a), and capable of moving between a first position causing the link mechanism (270) to be extended and a second position causing the link mechanism (270) to be more flexed than in the first position; and a connecting-member moving unit (271, 277) that includes a rotary member (271c, 276) capable of rotating on a displaceable rotating shaft (271b, 276a), and reciprocates the connecting member (271a) by rotation of the rotary member in one direction.
