Abstract:

To provide an inhibitor for the dusting of steel making slag which can suppress the dusting of steel making slag with a low boron content.

The inhibitor essentially consists of a magnesium-containing compound to be a feed source of magnesia in steel making slag in a molten state, and boric acid or a boron-containing compound to be a feed source of boric acid in steel making slag in a molten state. The boron-containing compound can be any one or a combination of two or more kinds selected from colemanite ulexite, tincal, and kernite. The magnesium-containing compound can be any one or a combination of two or more kinds selected form magnesia- based glass, dolomite, carnallite and magnesite having a magnesia content of 24 to 26 wt.%, and the balance essentially alumina and silica.
