Abstract:
To provide a crewman protection device which can accurately protect an upper half body of a crewman, and in addition to the upper half body, can accurately protect also a lumbar part by an air bag of which expansion has been completed.SOLUTION: A crewman protection device S for protecting a crewman MP who sits on a seat 1 comprises a seat belt 7, and an air bag 25 located in an area of a lap belt 10 in the seat belt. The air bag comprises: a central expansion part 28 which can protect an upper half body MU at the time of expansion completion; head protection parts 42L, 42R which project so as to cover the head MH from both of left and right end sides on an upper end side of the central expansion part; and lumbar part protection parts 44L, 44R which project so as to cover the lumbar part MW from both of left and right end sides on a lower end side of the central expansion part. The central expansion part has a width dimension capable of receiving the substantially whole area of the upper half body, and comprises bending deformation suppression means which suppresses forward bending of the upper end side when receiving the upper half body.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
