PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peroxide having a thermal radical polymerization initiating capability, and a thermosetting resin composition containing the same.SOLUTION: The peroxide is represented by the specified general formula (I). In the formula, Rrepresents an organic group; one of Rand Ris a hydroxy group and the other is a hydroperoxy group, or Rand Rtogether represent a peroxy group. The thermosetting resin composition contains the peroxide represented by the specified general formula (I), and a polymerizable compound.SELECTED DRAWING: None
