Abstract:
To provide a photoelectric sensor that can detect a failure in a light projection device that projects pulse light with a short pulse width without increasing the speed of a determination circuit that determines an abnormality in the light projection device.SOLUTION: A photoelectric sensor 1 comprises: a light projection unit 10 that has a light projection device 11 that projects pulse light on a detection area, and generates a monitor signal according to the quantity of light projected by the light projection device; a light receiving unit 20 that receives the pulse light from the detection area; a comparison circuit 31 that compares the monitor signal with a predetermined threshold; a storage circuit 32 that temporarily stores a result of comparison performed by the comparison circuit; a detection circuit 33 that detects the comparison result stored in the storage circuit in a predetermined clock period longer than a pulse width of the pulse light; and a determination circuit 34 that determines an abnormality in the light projection device based on the comparison result detected by the detection circuit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
