Abstract:
The present invention pertains to image matching processing that uses a distribution pattern in a concentration gradient direction in a grayscale image. There is created comparison data in which, for each pixel, angle data is associated with the pixel coordinates, where the angle data is determined according to the definition of starting with the concentration gradient direction of the angle represented as a rotation angle rotated in a specific direction relative to a reference direction and converting this rotation angle, which is in a range of at least 0° to less than 360°, to an integer between 0 and 255, thereby providing an unsigned 8-bit integer, and this comparison data is associated with model data created by the same method, and a first calculation and a second calculation are carried out. In the first calculation, for each group of pixels in a correspondence relationship, angle data in grouped pixels is considered to be signed 8-bit integers according to 2's complement, and the absolute value of the difference of these integers is calculated. In the second calculation, the absolute value of the difference calculated in the first calculation is considered to be unsigned 8-bit integers, and the degree of non-uniformity between comparison data and model data is found by calculation for summing.
