Abstract:
PURPOSE: To simplify the structure and to maintain high connection performance which is stable for a long period by forming both a sleeve and a core of zirconia ceramic.
CONSTITUTION: The connector consists of a 1st plug P1, a 2nd plug P2, and the sleeve S. The main body 3 of the 1st plug P1 is formed of synthetic resin by casting outside a zirconia-made ceramic core 2. wherein a through hole 2a into which an optical fiber is inserted is bored, so that almost half of the ceramic core 2 projects. A through hole 3a into which the fiber is inserted is bored in the main body 3, which is equipped with a screw ring 4 having a flange 4a at one end so that a step part 3b is engaged and also having a screw groove 4b formed at the inner peripheral part on the other end part. A 2nd plug P2 has the same constitution with the 1st plug P1. The main body of the sleeve S has a screw groove 6 made of synthetic resin outside the zirconia-made ceramic sleeve 5 containing the ceramic cores 2 and 7.
