PURPOSE: To easily and economically obtain an agent for preventing the deposition of urinous stones on the gutter of a water-wash rack for breeding experimental animals by using an acidic substance as the effective constituent.
CONSTITUTION: The agent contains an acidic substance as the effective constituent. The acidic substance to be used is a substance which can be dissolved in wash water to provide a pH of the solution of 5 or lower, preferably mineral acids such as hydrochloric, nitric, sulfuric and phosphoric acids and acidic salts thereof, organic acids such as succinic, adipic, malic, maleic, fumaric, benzoic, citric, o-phthalic and gluconic acids, and sulfamic acid. The amount of this agent to be added to wash water is such an amount that the pH of the final wash water will be 5 or lower, and it will vary depending upon, e.g. the number of experimental animals to be bread and the interval between washings of the gutter.
