PURPOSE: To prevent a decrease in the dimensional precision of an injection- molded metallic product at the time of producing the product having a specified content of carbon by using a water-atomized powder and a gas-atomized powder lower in oxygen content than the water-atomized powder as the material.
CONSTITUTION: When an injection-molded metallic part contg. 0.1 to several wt.% of carbon is produced, a mixture of ≥1 kind of water-atomized powder and a gas-atomized powder lower in oxygen content than the water-atomized powder is used as the material for the part. Consequently, the O content in the raw powder of the product can be adjusted, and the fluctuations in the shrinkage factor of the molded article in sintering due to decarburization and deoxidation are suppressed since the reaction amt. of C with O is reduced. An inert gas such as gaseous nitrogen, argon and helium is appropriately used as the gas to be used to produce the gas-atomized powder.
