Title:
PIG-COMPATIBLE THREE-WAY BUTTERFLY VALVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2537735
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a three-way valve structure, which gives a high-quality seal in the valve-close position not leaving pig-incompatible space in the T-shaped crossbar, and generates only a moderate pressure loss in the valve- open position.
CONSTITUTION: A pig-compatible three-way valve 1 has a tubular main portion 2 which is designed to allow passage of a pig, and a tubular auxiliary portion which is connected perpendicular to the main portion 2 facing an opening 7. The shape of the opening 7 is determined by intersection of the inner cylindrical wall of the tubular main portion 2 and a surface 3 constituting a portion of a sphere facing the tubular auxiliary portion. A movable element to selectively close the opening has a butterfly disc 30. The disc 30 disposed eccentric to a control shaft 20 mounted on the side of the tubular auxiliary portion is designed such that it completely closes the opening 7 in movement following the spherical surface lines, when the tubular main portion 2 becomes a complete cylindrical inner surface.
