Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a preformed body and a metal matrix composite material using the same with a production process different from the conventional production method.SOLUTION: A preformed body 3 of a metal matrix composite material 1 has a reinforcement material 4 composed of nanocarbon fibers for reinforcing characteristics of a base metal 2 and a crosslinking material 5 to crosslink the reinforcement materials 4, 4 together. The preformed body 3 has continuous pores 7 communicating a plurality of pores 6, 6 formed by dissolving and removing spacer particles having been mixed in the preformed body 3 together, and an electroless plating layer 9 is formed on an outer surface of the preformed body 3 or on surfaces of the continuous pores 7. In the metal matrix composite material 1, the continuous pores 7 are filled with the base metal 2 by subjecting the preformed body 3 to low-pressure impregnation treatment in the base metal 2 molten under pressure of ten times or lower of atmospheric pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
