This tapered roller bearing comprises an outer ring, an inner ring, a plurality of tapered rollers disposed between the outer ring and the inner ring, a plurality of retainer segments 11a having a plurality of column parts 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d so extending in the direction along the axis as to form pockets 13a, 13b, 13c holding the tapered rollers and connecting parts 15a, 15b so circumferentially extending as to connect the column parts 14a to 14d to each other, so disposed between the outer ring and the inner ring as to be arranged continuously with each other in the circumferential direction, and having swelled parts 16a, 16b swelled to the circumferential outer side at the axial ends of the circumferential end faces 21a, 21b, and spacers disposed between the first retainer segment and the last retainer segment arranged continuously in the circumferential direction.
