Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy both of reduction in the printing area of a test pattern and improved accuracy of concentration measurement.SOLUTION: This printing method includes: a step of forming the test pattern on a medium so that patches are juxtaposed in a predetermined direction, the test pattern including a first patch having a first gradation value, a second patch having a second gradation value, and a plurality of patches sandwiched between the first patch and the second patch and having gradation values continuously changed between the first gradation value and the second gradation value; a step of reading the test pattern along the predetermined direction by an optical sensor; and a step of correcting concentration based on the read result of the test pattern. The first patch and second patch have width in the predetermined direction and width in an intersecting direction intersecting with the predetermined direction, which are larger than the spot diameter of the optical sensor. The plurality of patches are respectively have width in the intersecting direction, which is larger than the spot diameter, and width in the predetermined direction, which is smaller than the spot diameter.
