Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a copolymer at a high yield smoothly by polymerizing a salt of an allyl amine and an allyl alcohol in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator having an azo group. SOLUTION: A radical polymerization initiator having an azo group of formula I, II or III is used. In the formulas, R1-5 and R7-8 are each an organic group while each couple of R1-2, R4-5 and R7-8 may form a ring together; R6 is H or an alkyl; and R9-10 are each a (substituted) allyl, a (substituted) phenyl or a (substituted) hydrocarbon group, or form a ring together. The input mol ratio of a salt of an allyl amine and an allyl alcohol is preferably 10:90-90:10. A radical polymerization initiator is added preferably in the range of 2-50 mol% against the total amount of the monomer. As a salt of an allyl amide, inorganic salts of (N-C1-4 alkyl substituted) monoallyl amine and (N-C1-4 alkyl substituted) diallyl amine can be mentioned.
